MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A Estill Springs man was arrested after he tried to rob three stores in Murfreesboro Sunday night.
Matthew Corbett was arrested after police said he was trying to rob the third place-- a convenience store on Northwest Broad Street. A police report said he asked for a pack of cigarettes. When she opened the cash register, he allegedly handed the clerk a bag and demanded money.
The clerk refused to give him the money, so he took off.
Investigators said Corbett also attempted to rob a Sir Pizza and Papa Johns earlier in the evening.
Police charged him with aggravated robbery and two counts of robbery. He was also charged with simple possession after police found a baggie of a green leafy substance inside his car.
