BURNS, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man is in custody for allegedly being involved in an aggravated robbery that took place in Burns Sunday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., the robbery was reported at Old Columbia Market on Old Columbia Road. According to Dickson County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), the clerk at the store said that a man entered the market with a gun and demanded money.
When the clerk handed the man the cash drawer, the man took the money in one hand while continuing to hold the gun on the clerk.
DCSO responded to the call, sending out a detective to investigate.
Shortly afterward, there was a separate report of two men acting suspicious behind the Pilot truck stop in Dickson. The caller said that two men were going back and forth from a car to a room at the South Aire Inn nearby.
Dickson police responded to that call, finding a man - who was later identified as George Weaver - near the car. Weaver ran back to his room at the South Aire Inn.
During their investigation, police found items linking Weaver to the earlier robbery at Old Columbia Market. Weaver was booked into the county jail for theft and criminal conspiracy on a $22,000 bond.
Police later took Michael Ray Weaver into custody on Tuesday afternoon. He has been charged with Aggravated Robbery and Theft and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Detectives are continuing the investigation.
