NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was charged with theft after he allegedly rented out a property that he didn't actually own to two different people.
Keemer Jordan, aged 33, was taken into custody early Wednesday morning.
A police affidavit said the victims found the property on Deerpath Drive for rent on Craigslist. They met Jordan at the property, where they gave him money as a deposit. A few days later, the victims allegedly gave him more money to complete the first month's rent.
Jordan was charged with two counts of theft. He was released on $15,000 bond.
Property records are public record, so renters can get the information of who owns a home at their county property assessors' office.
