A man was charged in the 2015 shooting death of a toddler in Nashville.
According to officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department 23-year-old Marlon Middlebrook was indicted on charges of criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, and evidence tampering.
Middlebrook was arrested yesterday in connection to the death of 2-year-old Kendall Pinkerton at an apartment on Rio Vista Drive.
The child was shot on March 31. Other children at the home said they had been playing with the gun when it fired and hit Kendall in the head.
Police said several adults and children stayed at the home the night before, but the adults went back to sleep that afternoon and were asleep when Kendall was shot.
Middlebrook allegedly picked up the gun after the incident and tried to hide it outside under leaves, but it was found by police.
According to witnesses, Middlebrook had the handgun before the shooting and left it on the couch next to him.
At the time of his arrest, Middlebrook was free on $13,000 bond after his February 13 arrest on felony marijuana and weapon possession charges. Middlebrook has previous drug and weapon possession convictions.
