Man arrested in connection with drive-by shooting in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man unknowingly walked into his own arrest in a shooting case when he went to the police precinct to pick up a phone.

William Boughner, 19, was indicted on aggravated assault charges in the drive-by shooting of a 15-year-old back in July.

The 16-year-old, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, is still recovering from the injuries sustained in the shooting.

Boughner was not aware of the recent indictment; so when went to the Vista Lane precinct to pick up a phone which he had surrendered to police for involvement in another criminal case officers informed him and took him into custody.

He was also wanted for his involvement in carjackings, vehicle thefts, and an Aggravated Robbery which took place in July. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapon possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, aggravated robbery, carjacking and theft of property.
