Metro Nashville Police officers arrested a man believed to be responsible for a murder on May 9 at the James Cayce Homes housing development.
Karlus Branch, 20, was arrested with the help of Murfreesboro Police Monday afternoon inside a room at the Knights Inn on South Church Street in Murfreesboro.
Branch was charged with criminal homicide in the shooting of 20-year-old Ronnie Foxx in the 600 block of S. 7th Street in the James Cayce Homes.
Officials said the shooting stemmed from an argument earlier in the day.
Witnesses told police Branch confronted Foxx outside an apartment just after 8 p.m. and shot him.
Foxx, who was visiting his girlfriend, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.
The couple’s 3-year-old child was present at the time of the shooting.
Branch was also arrested in November 2014 on multiple charges after shots were fired on South 5thStreet in Cayce Homes. One man was struck in the leg and some of the rounds entered an apartment. Four counts of aggravated assault and one count of felony reckless endangerment were still pending against Branch in that case.
He was scheduled to appear in Criminal Court in October. In 2013, Branch was charged as a juvenile with aggravated robbery. He was accused of robbing a man of more than $400 on S. 8th Street in Cayce homes. The case was transferred to Criminal Court, where Branch was convicted of attempted robbery in December 2014. He received a two-year sentence.
