A man was arrested Monday afternoon after police said he brought a potential explosive into Metro Nashville Central Police Precinct.

At about noon Monday, police said Kalvin Frierson entered the Precinct after being arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Police said they searched Frierson's backpack and found a PVC pipe with some wires and batteries that appeared to be suspicious.

Frierson told police he used the contraption to catch fish, by putting the pipe into the water and attaching the wires to batteries to cause an underwater detonation that stuns fish.

The device was rendered safe and Frierson was charged with having a prohibited hoax weapon.
