NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man who fled to Canada in 2010 following the stabbing death of his girlfriend is back in the United States.

Samuel Ebanks was brought back to Nashville Thursday by the U.S. Marshal's Service.

Ebanks was indicted for murder after Vickie Webb, 19, was found dead inside the couple's Murfreesboro Pike apartment in December 2010.

Police say Webb's body was found by maintenance staff after the apartment rent was two months overdue and the electricity had been turned off.

Ebanks, who is now 35, was indicted in April 2011 as the suspect in Webb's death.

MNPD say Ebanks had been in Canadian custody for months before he was brought back to Nashville.

He is being held in Metro Jail on a $750,000 bond.
