Man charged in Columbia deadly shooting

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Columbia man was arrested and charged in a weekend double shooting that killed one person and injured another.

The Maury County Sheriff's Office arrested 54-year-old William Thomas Wylie in the shooting death of his son-in-law 33-year-old David Jones Jr. Sunday night.

Columbia Police officials say the two men got into an argument that led to Wylie firing multiple rounds, hitting his daughter Sarah Jones and her husband David Jones Jr.

David Jones Jr.was transported to Maury Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Sara Jones was transported to Maury Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Wylie was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated assault resulting in death, and two counts of aggravated domestic assault with Sara Jones and a juvenile as victims.

Wylie is currently being held in The Maury County Jail with no bond awaiting an appearance in Maury County General Sessions Court.
