NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say a man was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication in a overnight crash that killed one motorcyclist and injured another.
The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. Friday on Old Hickory Boulevard at Myatt Drive.
Police say 33-year-old Brandon Hayes was turning left onto Myatt Drive when the motorcycle struck the passenger side of Hayes’ car. According to witnesses, the motorcycle driver had the green light.
Both riders – 20-year-olds Matthew Taylor and Trey Faulk – were taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Police say Taylor later died.
According to investigators, it’s not yet clear who was driving the motorcycle.
Police say Hayes smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking and taking Oxycodone prior to the crash. They say he had bloodshot, watery eyes and seemed impaired during the field sobriety test. A sample of his blood will be analyzed for alcohol and drug content.
