WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A man has been charged with the murder of his father after a family dispute.
36-year-old James Smithson, Jr. is charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon on Cayce Springs Road in Thompson Station.
Witnesses told deputies Smithson ran out of the home and into the woods nearby after shooting his father, James Smithson, Sr.
He was found inside a mobile home on the same road the shooting took place where he surrendered.
The search involved deputies, SWAT, a K9 unit and a Williamson County Sheriff's Office helicopter.
Smithson is in the Williamson County Jail where he is being held on a $500,000 bond.
