Man Charged With Attempted Murder In July 4th Shooting

SELMER, Tenn. - A Selmer man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting her on Independence Day.

Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested 28-year-old Lakeevan Mykel Barnes in McNairy County on Thursday.

According to the TBI, he shot a woman multiple times at the Savannah Dodge Store at 650 Wayne Road. It happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday. She is being treated in a Memphis hospital.

Barnes was charged with one count of attempted first degree murder, and booked into the Hardin County Correctional Facility. Barnes is currently being held without bond. Additional arrests related to this incident are anticipated.
