A 22-year-old man was arrested after police said a child’s father saw the suspect attempting to rape his child.
The suspect has been identified as Sebastian Alonzo.
Investigators said Alonzo was spending the night at a home near Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville.
The 7-year-old child’s father reportedly caught the suspect during the incident. The man called police and detained Alonzo until officers arrived.
The child's condition was not available.
Alonzo was taken into custody and charged with one count of attempted rape of a child. Bond was set at $250,000. A court date was set for June 22.
Investigators with the Hendersonville Police Department said Alonzo had only been living in the area for three months. They did not say where he was originally from, or why he had been staying with the family.
