GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit before crashing his car in Davidson County.
Officers attempted to pull 24-year-old Sebastian Morton over on Long Hollow Pike in Goodlettsville shortly before midnight Tuesday.
Morton allegedly sped away, leading police on a chase for several minutes where he reportedly hit speeds near 100 mph. Officers called off the pursuit when Morton turned off his headlights and continued driving erratically.
A witness later called authorities and reported someone speeding and driving without his headlights on. She said Morton’s car nearly struck her head-on as she was traveling north on Dickerson Road.
Morton eventually lost control of the car and veered off the roadway. The car flipped before bursting into flames.
First responders were forced to pry open the driver side door to get Morton out of the burning vehicle. He was not seriously hurt in the crash.
Morton was checked out at the scene and later taken to the Metro Jail. He’s facing several charges, including felony evading arrest and driving on a revoked license.
This was the second time he’s been charged with driving without a license. He was booked on a $60,000 bond.
