A 15-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after his father was shot inside their Bordeaux home.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Cocoa Drive.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said officers were called to the home after the teen called 911 and said his father, 46-year-old Scottie Bailey Sr., had suffered a gunshot wound to his forehead.

Bailey was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he remains in critical, life-threatening condition.

Police said the teen’s account of what happened evolved during the night.

He finally said he went into his father’s bedroom to look at a gun in the dresser. According to investigators, he claimed the gun accidentally went off, striking his father in the forehead.

From there, the teen said he took a shower, changed clothes, cleaned his room, and drove to Antioch to visit a friend.

Officials said for more than three hours he never called for an ambulance or police until he returned home with the friend.

A pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was found in the console of a vehicle.

The teen was also charged with unlawful handgun possession, evidence tampering and crack cocaine possession. His identity was not released.
