COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says it's investigating a deadly shooting involving a Maury County deputy on Sunday.

The TBI says Maury County deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a residence at 11 a.m. Investigators say the resident, 35-year-old Thomas Moles, left in a vehicle, which prompted a pursuit.

Deputies later stopped him near Fire Tower Road and Chestnut Ridge Road. The TBI says Moles is accused of trying to ram a patrol unit, which led to at least one deputy firing shots.

Moles was struck and died at the scene. No officers were hurt during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing. The names of the deputies involved were not immediately released.
