NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro police said a man in his 20s died after he was rescued from Percy Priest Lake on Sunday.

Police said 28-year-old Mohamed Sisse accidentally drowned while near the dam on Sunday night.

The man's family said he went out about 30 feet from shore to get a ball that was being tossed around, but on his way back he began to struggle and became submerged in the water. The family told police he was underwater for about 5 minutes before they were able to pull him out and perform CPR.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died overnight.
