Charges have been upgraded for the driver of a pickup truck after a motorcyclist died following a crash in south Nashville.
The incident happened late Tuesday afternoon on Bell Road near Old Hickory Boulevard.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 68-year-old Ference Molnar has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication in the death of 60-year-old Stanley Wiser.
Molnar was traveling on Bell Road when police said he failed to yield and collided with Wiser’s motorcycle.
Wiser was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Wednesday night.
Police said Molnar appeared extremely intoxicated and was unaware that he’d been in a crash. He reportedly admitted to drinking prior to the collision.
According to investigators, two open bottles of liquor were found inside Molnar’s vehicle.
An affidavit suggested that he performed poorly on initial field sobriety tasks and refused to continue.
He was charged Tuesday with vehicular assault, driving on a revoked license, open container violation, and not providing evidence of insurance.
Police said Molnar has a prior DUI conviction in Sumner County.
