NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Police arrested a man after chasing him by car and foot Wednesday evening.
Reginald Lewis now faces multiple charges.
Officers began following a vehicle that quickly fled a traffic stop, also using their helicopter. They believed a juvenile wanted for homicide was inside.
The vehicle stopped at 65 Maury Street. A nearby officer saw a man, later identified as Lewis, running from Maury Street and into Napier Housing. The officer then saw him sitting inside a Jeep in the Lewis Street Alley. The officer commanded Lewis to exit the Jeep.
Lewis fled on foot but eventually fell. From the ground, Lewis attempted to grab the officer's gun. Other officers arrived on the scene and helped stop Lewis and put him into custody.
They found a small digital scale and a white powder substance, appearing to be cocaine, on Lewis. They also found a gun, which is a violation for him as a convicted felon.
His charges include assaulting an officer, unlawful possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
