Man faces vehicular homicide by intoxication charges after passenger dies of injuries from crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man who was convicted of a DUI in 2014, is now facing charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication after a crash that occurred on Saturday evening.

Steven McCartt, 31, was driving on Chandler Road around 6:30 p.m. when he crossed over the westbound lanes, leaving the roadway and hitting a tree with his vehicle.

The passenger in the vehicle. 26-year-old Allison Neeb was transported to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later died of her injuries.

McCartt was also taken to Vanderbilt to be treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, McCarrt acknowledged that he had drank beer before driving and smelled of alcohol. He Also showed signs of impairment while performing a field sobriety test.

McCarrt will be charged once he is released from the hospital.
