NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say foul play is not suspected in an early morning death along Interstate 40 in Nashville.

Metro police say it appears the man suffered a “significant, accidental injury earlier in the evening when an appliance he was moving fell on him.”

The call came in early Thursday morning at the Jefferson Street exit ramp. The Tennessee Department of Transportation listed it as an “incident” on its SmartWay map, saying it was reported at 2:36 a.m.

Because it wasn’t immediately clear how the man died, it was ruled as a homicide investigation.

The investigation closed the ramp for several hours. The man was not identified.
