MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Investigators say a man was found shot in the middle of Interstate 24 following a carjacking and kidnapping in Murfreesboro. One of the suspects has been arrested, while another remains at large.
The incident began around midnight on the 300 block Amber Glen Drive when the 18-year-old was allegedly carjacked and kidnapped. Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers found the 18-year-old around 1 a.m. and alerted Murfreesboro Police.
Police say he was later found shot on the side of I-24 near mile marker 75. The condition of the victim was not known.
A Smyrna Police Department (SPD) spotted the victim's white 2014 Ford F-150 crew cab pickup and tried to stop it for speeding, but the driver sped away, leading officers on a chase across the Rutherford/Davidson County line where it crashed. The two suspects kept going in the stolen pick-up before eventually crashing on Hamilton Church Road in Antioch on the Rutherford/Davidson County line.
The two men bailed from the truck. One was eventually caught at a nearby Thornton's gas station, where Metro police say he locked himself in the bathroom before surrendering to officers.
One of the suspects, 24-year-old Joshua Hallmon, was found hiding inside the bathroom at Thornton’s gas station on Bell Road and Eagle View Blvd. He was arrested by Metro Nashville Police (MPD) officers. Hallmon is facing attempted first-degree homicide, especially aggravated kidnapping, especially aggravated robbery, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and criminal impersonation charges.
Hallmon is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $465,000 bond. A hearing is set Aug. 24 in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
The second suspect has not yet been located.
