NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has died at the hospital after a shooting Monday afternoon in North Nashville.
The shooting happened in the 1600 block of 25th Ave. North just before 3:30 p.m.
Police say 20-year-old Aquan Avant was shot in the stomach. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.
Witnesses told police Avant and three acquaintances were standing outside a home when the gunman approached them on foot and opened fire.
The suspect, who ran away after the shooting, was described as a young man with short hair. He wore a black track suit.
