Man In Custody Dies In Franklin, Kentucky

Officials in Simpson County, Kentucky have been investigating the death of a suspect who was in custody.

According to reports, officials with the Kentucky State Police got a call about a domestic disturbance on Allen Road just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies with the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office went to the scene and encountered 29-year-old Joshua M. Thomason, of Louisville.

Thomason fled from the scene in a vehicle in an attempt to evade officers, and a vehicle pursuit continued onto Turnertown Road, ending near a field.

Officials said Thomason fled on foot, and deputies, along with an officer from the Franklin Police Department, took him into custody.

Authorities said Thomason stopped breathing after being placed in custody. CPR was performed by officers until EMS crews arrived. He was taken to the Medical Center in Franklin where he died just before 2:45 p.m.

KSP officials said an autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday. An investigation remained ongoing.
