Man Killed In North Nashville Shooting

Metro Nashville Police investigated a deadly shooting late Sunday night in North Nashville.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of 23rd Avenue North at about 9:30 p.m. 

According to police, someone called 911 to report he had found a man on the ground in that area. The caller also reported hearing gunshots about 30 minutes earlier.

Officers said they found the man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was identified as 66-year-old Frazier Bernard Lumpkins. Police said he was homeless. 

Lumpkins was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

One witness reported seeing Lumpkins walking up and down 23rd Avenue North Sunday between Osage Street and Buchanan Street.
