A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting after allegedly being involved in an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Lawrenceburg.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said they were asked to investigate the officer-involved shooting Friday evening.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were searching for the suspect following the armed robbery at a pharmacy on North Locust Avenue.
A man matching the suspect’s description was found by authorities in a nearby business parking lot. According to initial reports, the man was armed with a knife.
TBI agents said an officer fired and struck the man.
The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified Saturday as 33-year-old Randy Thomas Groom, of Lawrenceburg.
The investigation remained ongoing.
