COFFEE CO., Tenn. (WTVF) — The TBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting that led to one man's death Saturday afternoon.
A THP trooper responded to a crash on I-24 West near mile marker 120 around 3 p.m. While the officer worked the scene, a driver walked to his car in the median, got a gun, and fired.
The trooper returned fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The trooper was not injured.
Officers don't know why the man shot at the officer. TBI Special Agents are investigating.
