MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man was found murdered in his home Sunday night, Rutherford County Sheriff’s officials say.
Lt. Todd Sparks of the Criminal Investigations Division said in a press release 45-year-old Erick Bixler was killed in an apparent murder.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the home around 11:30 p.m. where the found his body. Detectives requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s forensic scientists to process the crime scene.
“We don’t feel like this was a random situation,” Sparks said in the release.
CID Capt. Britt Reed said the investigation remains active and detectives are pursuing leads.
“We don’t feel like this act has any connection with anyone in the neighborhood,” Reed said in the release.
Detectives requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s forensic scientists to process the crime scene.
