LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police in La Vergne arrested a man who was out on bond for 2017 murder in Nashville after leading officers on a chase.

Officers tried to pull over 28-year-old Robert Richards Tuesday evening, but police say he took off. They say he lost control and crashed into another vehicle. That's when Richards allegedly ran away on foot, but was taken into custody because he got hurt while running away.

Officers say they found nearly three pounds of marijuana, a handgun and ammunition in the car.

Richards faces 12 charges including evading arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license, possession of a weapon while intoxicated, duty to give information or render aid, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, immediate notice of an accident, and drug paraphernalia.
