The man responsible for a fatal crash in Joelton last June took plea deal in court.
Carl Dollarhide entered guilty pleas Thursday for Vehicular assault and Vehicular Homicide while intoxicated. He will serve 3 years behind bars and then spend 8 years on Probation.
He was driving south on Clarksville Pike in Joelton at a high rate of speed when he veered into the northbound lane hitting an SUV head on.
The crash killed 29-year-old Stacy Thornton, and critically injured her daughter Maddie who was 10 months old at the time.
Stacy's boyfriend and three other young children were also in the car at the time of the wreck. The family spoke in court to make sure Dollarhide heard their side of the story.
The family said they wish the sentence would have been greater, but didn't want the family to have to sit through a long court battle.
Along with jail time and probation, Dollarhide will also have to attend a Victims impact program.
