Man Shot, Killed By Clerk After Early Morning Argument

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have released the identify of a man fatally shot at Paul’s Market.

Authorities said 27-year-old Anthony Williams, Jr. was shot by a clerk at the market in the 1800 block of Jefferson Street around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

Officials identified the clerk as 52-year-old Andre Swett and added Williams allegedly got into an argument with Swett before the shooting.

Police said Williams apparently threatened Swett and came around the corner at him when Swett fired.

Williams was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said no charges were filed. The case was set to be reviewed by the District Attorney’s office as the investigation continued.
