NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville police searched for two men believed to be responsible for a robbery and shooting that killed a man in South Nashville late Tuesday night.

Officers were flagged down in an apartment complex in the 200 block of Bridgeway Circle at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday by the victim's son, who had found his father shot.

According to police, he pointed them in the direction of 48-year-old Marcos Reyes-Hernandez who had been shot near the parking lot. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Investigators say Hernandez was cleaning out the bed of his pickup truck at a dumpster when he was approached by an unknown man and shot. Robbery is being considered as a potential motive for the shooting as officers were already on their way to the scene for a report of a robbery.

The robbery victim told police he was held up by two young men. The victim said he heard a gunshot a few minutes after the suspects ran from him.

Officers said they are looking into whether two men seen in a white four-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla, could be responsible for the shooting.

Police said a white 2013 Toyota Corolla was taken during a robbery on Monday night at Bordeaux Garden Park. Investigators are looking into the potential relationship between the two crimes.
