NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police are investigating a shooting in the Trinity Hills neighborhood that lead to one man's death Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a Marathon gas station on the 200 block of West Trinity Lane just before 8 a.m. At the scene they found Dwight Stuart, 60, on the ground with gunshot wounds.

Stuwart was taken to Vanderbilt, where he died from his injuries.

Security footage from the market showed Stuart parked outside, when a white pickup truck pulled up beside him. According to police, Stuart eventually got out of his vehicle with what looked like a handgun and approached the truck. Gunfire was exchanged, and the truck drove off.

Police say two men with gunshot wounds arrived later at different hospitals. During interviews, officers learned one patient, Danny Dixon Jr., had an ongoing dispute with Stuart regarding handgun theft.

Police are still determining whether the deadly shooting of Stuart was in self-defense. No charges have been made at this time but investigation is ongoing.
