A man was taken to an area hospital after being stabbed in front of a child at an East Nashville gas station.
The incident happened Sunday night at a Speedway convenience store on Gallatin Pike.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the victim was walking out of the gas station when he noticed a small child behind the glass door.
The man told the child to watch out so he or she wouldn't get hit by the door when it opened.
Police said at that point, two men came from the parking lot telling the victim not to talk to the child.
The suspects allegedly began beating up the victim and at some point during the altercation, the victim was stabbed twice in his torso and back areas.
Police said a bystander began to walk up, and one of the suspects punched him in the face.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
There was no clear description of the suspects at this time.
