NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was critically injured after he was struck by a car late Thursday night in Antioch.

Officials with Metro Police said the victim was crossing a street when he was hit by the vehicle. The incident happened in a subdivision on Brittany Park Lane around 11 p.m.

It was unclear how fast the other person was driving at the time of impact. The surrounding area where the collision occurred is largely residential.

The scene itself was emotional, as neighbors comforted one another and were seen crying while police worked to identify what happened.

In addition to speaking with the driver, police also interviewed several of those neighbors who came out to the scene. At this time, it appears charges will not be filed.

The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is expected to survive.

Hospital officials said he suffered broken ribs, a broken leg and a spinal fracture. No sign of severe brain injury was reported.

Neither his nor the driver’s identity was immediately available. No additional details were known.
