Metro Nashville police officers have asked for the public’s help in finding a 20-year-old believed to be responsible for a fatal shooting at the James Cayce Homes development.

Officials issued a warrant for Karlus Branch of Joseph Avenue. Police said he is wanted for shooting and killing of 20-year-old Ronnie Foxx.

The shooting happened Monday, May 9, at the housing development South of 7th Street.

Witnesses told police Branch confronted Foxx outside an apartment just after 8 p.m. and shot him.

Foxx, who was visiting his girlfriend, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died. The couple’s three-year old child was present at the time of the shooting.

Branch has a lengthy criminal history. He was arrested in November 2014 on multiple charges after shots were fired on South 5th Street in Cayce Homes.

One man was struck in the leg and some of the rounds entered an apartment.  Four counts of aggravated assault and one count of felony reckless endangerment are still pending against Branch in that case.  He was scheduled to appear in Criminal Court in October.

In 2013, Branch was charged as a juvenile (17-year-old) with aggravated robbery.  He was accused of robbing a man of more than $400 on South 8th Street in Cayce homes.

The case was transferred to Criminal Court, where Branch was convicted of robbery in December 2014.  He received a two year sentence.

Officials asked anyone who had information on Branch to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers could remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
