May 7 COVID-19 update: 6,129 total cases, 294 deaths in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVF) — Governor Beshear announced an additional 208 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 11 related deaths in the state on Thursday.

Eight of the 11 deaths were residents in long-term care facilities.

The additional cases brings the state's total to 6,219 since the outbreak began, while 2,177 people have since recovered.

Gov. Beshear provided updates on his plan to slowly reopen the state. On May 22, restaurants can start to open with a limited capacity. On June 1, fitness centers and theaters can begin to open. On June 11, the governor's goal is to begin opening campgrounds. On June 15 Gov. Beshear said he hopes to have a safe plan to reopen child care centers.
