Nashville Mayor Megan Barry has fulfilled a campaign promise by creating created a new position of Chief Diversity Officer.
The Mayor introduced the city's Chief Diversity Officer, Michelle Hernandez-Lane.
Mayor Barry said Hernandez Lane will lead the city's efforts to make sure that all parts of
Metro Government are diverse and inclusive.
There was a national search for the position, but in the end, the Mayor decided Hernandez-Lane was the right person for the job.
She was already a Metro Employee, who worked in the Finance Department.
