Metro Nashville has gotten one step closer to improving transit around the city.
On Monday, Mayor Megan Barry, Vice Mayor David Briley, and members of the Metro Council announced the filing of an ordinance that would allow voters to determine their transportation future.
The filing was necessary in order to place Metro's transit improvement program on the May 1 ballot.
Here’s how the process will work for the mayor’s proposed $5.4 billion transit plan.
The first reading has been set to happen before Christmas, and a public hearing has been scheduled in early January.
If everything is approved, residents will vote on the transit issue in May.
