NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A rally was held Wednesday night near Fisk University that encouraged the community to "Get out the vote."
The rally and prayer service was held at the Lee Chapel AME Church.
Leaders told NewsChannel 5 that getting the church involved in the election was important for the entire community.
We believe that the church’s responsibility prophetically is to engage the community and the way we can make a difference of which we are a part is by social and political engagement,” said Pastor Roderick Belie. “One of the things we wanted to make perfectly clear this evening is that though we are a Christian Congregation African Methodists, We affirm the religious freedom of all Nashvillians; so we want to make sure everyone can enjoy this community in the same way.”
You can cast your ballot Thursday until 7 P-M.
