A memorial service was held for the nearly 50 Nashville police officers who have died in the line of duty.
The local Fraternal Order of Police held its annual memorial service Wednesday in tribute to Nashville's fallen officers.
The event started at noon at the First Baptist Church, located at 7th Avenue and Broadway.
The annual event coincided with National Police Week, and comes on the heels of Metro Nashville Police losing one of their own just three months ago.
In February, Officer Eric Mumaw drowned in the Cumberland River while trying to save a suicidal woman.
He was the 45th law enforcement professional killed in the line of duty in Nashville since 1875.
Thousands of officers from departments across the state traveled to Nashville to attend Mumaw's funeral in February. Three years ago, Officer Michael Petrina was struck and killed while working a crash on Interstate 65.
