A memorial service and visitation have been planned for Nashville Mayor Megan Barry’s son following his death over the weekend.
Max Barry died from an apparent drug overdose in Denver, Colorado on the evening of Saturday, July 29. He was 22-years-old.

He graduated from the University of Puget Sound in June.
Mayor Barry and Bruce Barry released the following statement:
“Early this morning, we received news that no parents should ever have to hear. Our son Max suffered from an overdose and passed away. We cannot begin to describe the pain and heartbreak that comes with losing our only child. Our son was a kind soul full of life and love for his family and friends.
Our family would greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and would respectfully ask for privacy as we mourn the loss of our child and begin to understand a world without his laughter and love in our lives.”
A visitation has been planned at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 31. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1 at the Belcourt Theatre. Doors will open for the service at 8:30 a.m.
Max Barry is survived by his parents, as well as grandparents Joyce Brody, Jan Mueller, and Ken Mueller.
The family has asked for contributions to be made to the Oasis Center and/or Nashville Humane Society.
