Memphis police said they have charged the father of a 3-year-old boy who died after accidentally shooting himself with the man's handgun.
Police spokesman Louis Brownlee said Cortez Wilkerson was charged with reckless homicide, felony drug possession, felony weapon possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Media reports said his son was found lying on the walkway when police responded to a shooting call Saturday.
The child was transported to LeBonheur Children's Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
