Three men in Clarksville were robbed and assaulted last week after setting up what they thought were dates with women they met using popular dating apps on their cell phones.
In one instance, one of the men was even shot at. Police said none of them were seriously injured.
"In one case someone gets beat up another someone gets shot at and robbed, so you have a whole lot going on and no date," police spokesperson Jim Knoll said.
Police say the robberies likely could've been prevented if the victims had setup the proposed dates in public spaces with other people around instead of in parking lots or at an apartment complex, which is what happened in all of last week's robberies.
"Not a thing wrong with using these apps but exercise care, be cautious, just because you’re a guy doesn't’t mean you’re exempt from having bad things happen to you," Knoll added.
Clarksville police worked to determine if the incidents were connected.
