A man was arrested after police say methamphetamine and counterfeit cash were seized during a traffic stop in Murfreesboro.
Rutherford County Sheriff’s officials said a deputy noticed 21-year-old Colby Wayne Carter and another person riding in a Honda Accord that was registered to a red Jeep Wrangler. They stopped at a fast food restaurant where the officer talked to them.
Carter was wanted for seven arrest warrants for violation of probation and failure to appear in court.
Officials said the car’s owner gave consent to search the vehicle and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol was found under Carter’s seat.
The officer checked his criminal history and arrested Carter for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
During a search, officials said $1,705 worth of counterfeit money was found in his back pocket. While being booked, about $1,000 worth of methamphetamine was allegedly found in his clothing.
Carter was charged with possession of methamphetamine, bringing methamphetamine into a jail, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and criminal simulation.
The other person in the car was not charged.
