NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The wait for a pair of MNPS high schools to return to the football field just got a longer.

A case of COVID-19 has postponed tomorrow night's game between Hillwood and McGavock less than 24 hours before kickoff.

Hillwood High Principal Stephen Sheaffer sent an email to parents Thursday night making the announcement.

"The safety of our team and that of our fellow MNPS team must come first as we work to further assess the risk and exposure to players and staff," said Sheaffer via email.

All other games involving Metro Schools are still on schedule for Friday night.

Principal Sheaffer encouraged the Hillwood community to wear masks, practice social distancing and to be considerate of how actions impact those around us.
