NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Metro Nashville Police Department's LGBTQ liaison officer launched a Safe Place Program where people can safely wait as an officer responds to a reported hate crime call.

Officer Catie Poole launched the program on Thursday, April 11. She posted signage at Local Honey on Belmont Boulevard about the program and location.

Signs were also placed at Tribe, Play, and Suzy Wong’s House of Yum, all in the 1500 block of Church Street, and the Oasis Center, 1704 Charlotte Avenue.

A similar program began in Seattle by the Seattle Police Department.
