CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Clarksville police officer sustained injuries in a car crash on Thursday while driving to the scene of a carjacking.

Officer Alan Greenman was driving to Robin Drive by way of Ft Campbell Lane with his emergency lights and siren on when another vehicle began to enter his lane.

Officer Greenman left his lane and drove onto the right side of the roadway where he struck some obstacles before coming to a complete stop in a grassy area.

According to police, the officer was on his way to the location of a carjacking during which a female delivery driver was confronted by two men.

The victim was unharmed but said the men put a metal object to the back of her head, took the pizza she was delivering and stole her car.

Officer Greenman was taken by Life flight to Vanderbilt and is currently being treated for his injuries. He is reported to be in stable condition.

The stolen car, a 2016 Ford Fusion, was located a short time later at the apartments at 65 Durrett Drive.

The carjacker has since been identified as Javier Szabo and was taken into custody by police without incident on Friday.
