NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — No foul play was apparent at the scene of a decomposing body near Murfreesboro Pike and Spence Lane Thursday, Metro police announced.
Discovered in a wood line by a man walking in the area, the identity of the body is believed to be 47-year-old Robert S. Gage. The Medical Examiner's Office, though, is still working to make a positive identification.
According to the Medical Examiner's preliminary examination, the body had a gunshot wound to the head.
A rusted gun that was found near the body is believed to have belonged to Gage. Also found was a wallet with Gage's ID.
A family member of Gage's in Kentucky said he suffered from mental issues.
