Police have asked the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Madison.

The incident happened at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday while the pedestrian was crossing Myatt Drive near Spring Branch Road.

Police said the woman was hit by a vehicle described as “dark in color.” An officer later spotted a dark green 2002 Chevrolet Venture minivan abandoned on North Gallatin Pike. The minivan had damage consistent with striking a pedestrian, according to investigators.

Officers also found debris at the scene that indicated the minivan was involved. That has been taken to the MNPD Crime Laboratory for processing.

After the first collision, a second vehicle also struck the pedestrian. That driver stayed on scene and isn’t expected to face charges.

The pedestrian has not yet been identified. Police said she’s a white woman who appears to be in her 40s.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
